NEURC implements simplified flexible grid connection rules for generation and BESS

From 1 September 2026, NEURC-updated codes introduce flexible connection based on actual available network capacity at the node, separate limits for offtake and injection capacity, expanded cable pooling for multiple installations (including generation + BESS) at one point, and rights for BESS operators to co-locate generation. Transitional rules for existing BESS projects preserve prior connection fee calculation until 1 January 2027 if commissioned by then. Simplified generation connection procedures extended to 1 October 2027.
