Ukraine reports 4.8 GW generation capacity repaired and 1.8 GW distributed gas generation online ahead of winter

On 27 August 2026 First Deputy PM and Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal reported that 4.8 GW of damaged generating capacity has already been repaired in 2026, with a further ~4 GW under repair; the annual target exceeds 10 GW of restored or new capacity. Distributed gas-fired generation of 1.8 GW is already operating, with an additional 800 MW targeted by year-end and >280 units currently being connected. Nearly 200 second-level protective structures have been built. Gas storage stood at 14.3 bcm. The statements form part of official winter-preparedness reporting.
